This Tide 28 is powered by a Tohatsu 9.8hp outboard. Consequently, the displacement is less than an equivalent 28 footer with an inboard engine. Another consequence is a vast aft cabin area for sleeping. So it has a competitive edge in speed and generous accommodation. The lifting keel is worked by a winch in the cockpit rather than levers in the saloon. The Halmatic DS110 was designed by the great Don Shead. These lovely retro power boats turn heads even now, sometimes compared to a Fairey or Tantrella.
